Laboratories

At present the Department of Electrical Engineering has adequate building accommodation to house all the academic programmes (B. Tech. and M.Tech) offered by it. The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide adequate opportunities for UG and PG students to learn and innovate. The department has created state-of-the-art infrastructure in terms of class-rooms, furniture, teaching aids, laboratories, equipments, department library etc. The various infrastructural facilities available in the department include total 25000 Sft build up area structured in two floors, 10 Class Rooms, 11 Laboratories, 7 Staff Rooms, 1 research lab, 1 departmental library. The department functions with a library with a collection of standard books for the faculty and students to refer and enhance their knowledge.

Dedicated Department Computer Center (60 computers providing software packages related to the field of Engineering, expert lectures through NPTEL videos and MOOCs programs) with un- interrupted power supply.

Electircal Circuits Lab

The objective of Electric Circuits laboratory is to impart hands on experience in verification of circuit laws and theorems, measurement of circuit parameters, study of circuit characteristics and simulation of time response. It also gives practical exposure to the usage of CRO, power sources, function generator etc.


ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY LAB

ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY LAB IS A DEPARTMENTAL CORE TEACHING LAB USED BY II YEAR – I SEMESTER ELECTRONICS COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING & MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS.


  • Electrical Technology Lab is facilitated with various basic experimental set-ups like connection of passive elements, Star Delta connection and 3-phase power measurement using different meters for verification of basic electrical engineering experiments. Here students can get practically aware about the basic concepts of electrical engineering.
  • The laboratory is equipped with all types of AC and DC machines mainly covered under B.Tech. Curriculum. Through hands on experiments with real machines, students gain practical experience in using various AC and DC motors, alternator, transformers, starters etc.
  • Various types of experiments related to electrical machinery like load test, break test, loss separation and OC and SC characteristics, V-curve etc are done in this lab.

ELECTRICAL MACHINES LAB I

ELECTRICAL MACHINES LAB - I IS A DEPARTMENTAL CORE TEACHING LAB USED BY II YEAR – II SEMESTER ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING STUDENTS.


  • The laboratory is equipped with all types of AC and DC machines mainly covered under B.Tech. Curriculum through hands on experiments with real machines, students gain practical experience in using various AC and DC motors, transformers, starters etc.
  • There are so many experiments during which students determine the electromechanical characteristics of machines and analyze the machine performance under variable supply and load in steady-state conditions.

  • Control Engineering is of significant interest in most areas of industry - new and established. Control System applications are assuming an increasingly important role in the developing world, making it crucial for the students to be exposed to contemporary control system equipment in a realistic manner.
  • To achieve the goal, Control Systems laboratory has been set up on 1st floor in Department of Electrical Engineering to provide this realistic environment. This laboratory provides university-level students with a test bed to learn and practice fundamental concepts of control systems.

POWER ELECTRONICS LAB

POWER ELECTRONICS LAB IS A DEPARTMENTAL CORE TEACHING LAB USED BY III YEAR – II SEMESTER ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING STUDENTS


  • This laboratory contains various trainer kits from different vendors to perform the experiments like characteristics of power semiconductor devices, triggering circuits etc.
  • The laboratory also contains trainer modules for different converters like rectifier, chopper, Inverter and cyclo-converter.
  • The experiments are carried out on breadboards also, which help the students to have indepth understanding of functioning of devices and converters.

MP & MC LAB


MP &MC LAB IS A DEPARTMENTAL BREADTH TEACHING LAB USED BY III YEAR – II SEMESTER (R16-Regulation) & IV YEAR - I SEMESTER (R13-Regulation) ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING STUDENTS.


  • The Laboratory contains 8086-Microprocessor kits, 8051-Microcontroller kits, different peripherals like DAC, ADC, Serial communicator etc.
  • The Laboratory also consists of TASM open source software where the student can develop different programmes for particular application.

ELECTRICAL SIMULATION LAB

  • Simulation lab is equipped with desktop computers. Students can use the lab for the research and simulation purpose and can access the internet for more assistance.Various simulation software like PSIM is available here.

  • This laboratory is equipped with all the fundamental equipment needed for experiments involving electric power systems. The equipment available for students includes fundamental devices of electric power systems, such as transformers, power system simulator, switch gears, relay testing panel, cable fault analyzer panel & advance microprocessor based relay etc.
  • The laboratory contains the software tools used by industry professionals for creation and maintenance of power systems.
