The Department of Electrical Engineering is a blend of teaching and research
activities pertaining to both
Electronics and Electrical Engineering. At present the Department offers B.
Tech. and M.Tech Programmes. The
diversity is reflected in the breadth of theoretical and laboratory courses that
are on offer and the research activities of
the faculty members. The Department firmly believes in imparting a strong
hands-on flavor and motivational
initiatives to the courses that a student takes, and therefore places emphasis
on the laboratory component, internships
and to participate in design contest, project display etc.
The Department has a healthy mixture of young and experienced faculty members,
all of whom display high
levels of enthusiasm and dedication. The major areas of faculty expertise
include Power System Reliability and
Planning, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy sources, Electric Vehicles,
Distributed Generation, AI & IOT
applications to Engineering, Control Engineering, Power Electronics applications
to Power System and Neural
Network Applications to Electrical Drives. Apart from teaching and research, the
faculties are actively involved in
organizing technical workshops, Guest lectures and Industrial visits at the
Institute to create an environment conducive
to experiential learning.
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering prides itself on both
research and teaching by creating a
collaborative environment in which interdisciplinary work is encouraged and
students develop close relationships with
faculty and get involved in cutting-edge research. The student community in the
Electrical Engineering department
consists of undergraduate and post graduate students. Every year many of our B.
Tech. students carry out summer
internships at reputed industries. These internships also include training
programs at foreign academic universities.
The Department is very ably supported by qualified staff that helps in the
smooth functioning of laboratories and other
administrative activities. All the research contributions of the faculty members
are published in leading international
journals and conferences.
Apart from the undergraduate laboratory facilities that are now in place, there
are ample research facilities in
Research Labs often contain specialized equipment appropriate for study of the
research area along with highly
configured computers with licensed software’s like MATLAB, PSPICE etc. Faculty
members and students at the
department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering work together to conduct
research across many areas in the field
of electrical engineering as well as related fields such as AI & IOT
applications, Renewable energy sources, Power
electronics and Power systems. Department research strengths encompass Sponsored
research activities include
projects sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology and other
collaborative projects.
